It’s been a while since the last hack night. And since I’m relatively new to the team, I wonder what to think of this night in particular. It sounds kind of cool and a bit cheeky at the same time, thinking of the several examples of hackers who once again managed to obtain the pictures of naked movie stars… So, bring it on, who or what are we going to hack tonight?! Well, I found out that our way of hacking is quite decent, in the sense that we like to craft something new because some of us always have great ideas that go beyond our available working time and running projects. So that’s why we create a special internal moment once in a while — call it a ‘creative pizza night’ instead, but that, by far, won’t embrace what we are trying to achieve on such a night — to keep our creative minds running and our passion flowing!
aFrogleap has adopted Agile Scrum as its work methodology, which is great! In our agile projects we work with user stories, and user stories have to be pokered. That sounds like a fun game to play! Who doesn’t play poker once in a while? But pokering user stories is unfortunately slightly less exciting. In our work we have been using different apps for this poker part. But as true app professionals we are not impressed by what we have seen so far… So, by the end of this night we want to have built our own poker app that meets all our needs and works better, integrating flawlessly with our work flow and software. An app that even could be published to the store!
Our teams are challenged to come up with the most amazing but realizable concept within this Hack night! Taking into account the context of use of the poker app and certain limitations due to time… How can user stories be pokered as quickly and accurately as possible? What would you want the app to do? What information should it show or process? What can the app do to make your life and that of your project team more easy? Well, designers and developers, ‘backenders and frontenders’, and everyone else who is contributing to this night, let’s hit the table! Good luck and enjoy the pizza!
